BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Jeff Browning helps run the Brewport Brewing Company and loves good beer, “we really go down the historically accurate road, We have a beer in the tank right now that is from a recipe from West Haven from 1942,” he says.

Browning also has a knack for perfect pizza, “Thin crust, artisanal, New Haven style pizza, Local ingredients, everything is purchased every other day.”

Jeff Browning and his team pride themselves on a perfect thin crust, gourmet salads and a few dozen Connecticut style brews, Jeff Browning Jr. is the brewmaster, “I will do some recipes that my father has procured and then I will do some more modern stuff that I want to try with just a little more experimental hops and stuff so we do a little bit of a ying and yang,” he says.

This building dates back to the 1940s and was transformed into a brewery in 2016.

“I fell in love with it, we go back to history, This was a newspaper distribution warehouse, and I love the idea of using the local history as part of what we do here,” he says.

Today the family- friendly spot is open for dine-in and carry out. You can grab a 6-pack to go and a few dozen pizzas to fire up at home. “You can walk through our brewery and do a self-guided tour, we have historic beer signs all over the place and we want people to get great service in a speedy way.
