NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — A New Hartford family farm is working with local family shops across the state all in the name of helping out each other.
Gresczyk Farms was started in 1980 and has been in the family ever since.
"The farm means almost everything to me," said Henry Gresczyk, part-owner of the farm.
"We have lived here our entire lives,” said Bruce Gresczyk Jr., Henry's brother, and part-owner of the farm.
For the Gresczyk brothers, it's not just their local business that they are passionate about, but also the people they get to work with.
The farm has also made it a mission to team up with other local businesses across the state to partner and support others as well.
From local soap made with cucumber and mint directly from the Gresczyk Farm to local ice cream with fresh fruits grown on the farm, there are so many Connecticut items to choose from while at the farm.
"Being a farmer, it provides us a unique opportunity where we love to see our products in other local products," said Bruce.
Don't forget the kettle corn from Kent, the fresh bread from Hartford Baking Company, also bread and treats from Better Baking by Beth, or the chapsticks from Harwinton, and that's not even close to all that they have to offer!
Gresczyk Farm sits on roughly 70 acres of land. From the country store to the greenhouse, and to fields that stretch as far as the eye can see – this local gem has so much to explore. But of course, like most good things, it doesn't come easy.
"Anybody who owns their own business, regardless of a farmer, I don't care what type of business it is, you're probably working your butt off," said Bruce.
The farm shop and greenhouse are open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and come autumn, you can bring the family back for pumpkin picking!
