New Haven Cracks Down On Illegal Dirt Bikes, ATVs

MANSFIELD – State police are warning ATV owners in Eastern Connecticut about a rash of thefts of the off road vehicles.

Police are investigating an increased number of thefts involving dirt bikes and four-wheelers this month. The thefts happened overnight in the towns of Mansfield, Ashford, Stafford, Thompson and Killingly.

The vehicles have been stolen from garages, sheds, and barns according to authorities. Some thefts involved vehicles that had been secured. The stolen vehicles have been Honda dirt bikes, Honda four wheelers, and Suzuki four wheelers. Police said the most recent ones have been red and yellow.

Police reminded residents to store valuables out of sight and in a locked area.
