CT Bucket List: CT Science Center Unveils New Exhibit

It is called The Genome and Me, and it is designed to be interactive fun for the whole family.

HARTFORD, Connecticut — Did you know that we actually share 50% of the same DNA as a pineapple?

If you have been to The Connecticut Science Center, you know you are going to learn some fun facts just like the pineapple fact!

Plus, you get to explore tons of exhibits, and this weekend, there is a new one being unveiled! It is called The Genome and Me, and it is designed to be interactive fun for the whole family.

"I am so thrilled about this exhibit," said Melissa Garafola. "We are in the middle of a genomics renaissance, everyday there is some exciting DNA based genetics research going on, and it can be an intimidating topic, and we don't want that, we want to bring this to our visitors and make it something that they can relate to and engage with."

The staff at the CT Science Center say they are committed to find new ways to stay on top of the ever-changing new information we learn every day!

"Every year for the last four years, we have introduced something new in the science center," said Tracy Shirer from The Connecticut Science Center. "We virtually transform the science center, with updated scientific information, science doesn't stop, science keeps going, and it's our job to inform the public about scientific findings."

The soft opening of the exhibit will be this weekend, and kids and adults will pay the same price for the President's Day holiday weekend. Tickets will run around 17 dollars, all you have to do is buy your ticket online. Then, when you get to the center, you will get your temperature checked, you'll have to wear a mask, and also follow social distancing markers.
