TOLLAND, Conn. — Monday’s snow and rain brought slippery conditions across the state impacting local businesses.
“We had a lot of customers coming in for salt and shovel,” said John Fagerquist.
A little more than 200 customers to be exact said Fagerquist who’s the manager at Aubuchon Hardware in Stafford.
“That’s a good day,” said Fagerquist.
A good day indeed, traveling Northeast from Hartford to Stafford looks like a winter wonderland.
The roads and trees are coated in white. This is a visual that’s been long awaited.
“You get that first snowfall usually in October, November and it’s finally hitting now at the end of January. We’ve been waiting a long time for this one,” said Fagerquist.
While people prepared for snow and possible ice in Stafford. The slick and snowy roads caused multiple car crashes in Tolland.
One fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer, on I-84 eastbound in Tolland, caused major delays.
“It’s been pretty busy,” said Marie Nunziata.
Those traffic delays bring in foot traffic to a Tolland gas station.
“We’ve had a lot of travelers and passersby coming through. They seem to be stuck on the highway due to the highway being closed in the East direction headed toward Boston,” said Nunziata.
