HARTFORD - A teenager was injured in a shooting at the corner of Barbour and Judson streets Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old boy told police he was leaving the Karina Grocery, 136 Barbour St., at about 6:45 p.m. when shots were fired at him from a passing car. He was struck in the left foot and was being treated at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Sgt. Martin Burke said.

Police found seven shell casings and a car damaged by gunfire at the scene, Burke said.

The car was towed away at 7:50 p.m., after police had gathered evidence from the road and sidewalk.

"They need to put cameras right here," said a woman who lives in the neighborhood, Candy Williams. "All the cameras are on Park Street."

The car from which shots were fired was a dark blue, newer model Ford Mustang with gray lettering on the doors, the teen told police. Both occupants were black, Burke said; the driver wore a black hooded sweatshirt, and the passenger — the gunman — wore a black sweatshirt and a baseball cap, he said. He had a flat nose and a black pistol.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
