Fall River, Massachusetts, where you'll find the ultimate display of a steel determination. Battleship Cove is where Executive Director, Captain Jack Casey will tell you the patriotic spirit is unsinkable. ''What we have is the largest collection of historic naval ships in the world, you know a lot of people don't realize what we have down here," Casey, a retired Naval Reserve Vet said. "These ships are floating artifacts," Casey added. "It's a floating museum I mean how many days can you walk on a sub and a battleship with your kids," said Jeremy Forbes, visiting from Saco, Maine.

The big guns are all docked in Fall River -- six different ships that visitors have free reign to explore. The floating fortresses include the Battleship Massachusetts, the Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy, the diesel sub ''Lionfish'', the Russian built "Hiddensea", and indoors they house two restored "PT" boats. Casey said, "you want people to understand that the reason these ships are here is they helped preserve our freedom, and, there's the old cliché, freedom isn't free, well that's what the story we tell down here -- freedom isn't free. People had to fight to preserve the freedoms we have today." Casey says the two hour ride from Hartford is worth the trip because they have the firepower to back things up, "its a story to be told, it's a fun day for the family."

Battleship Cove tickets run various prices; Adults are $15, Kids 6-14 are $9 and kids under 6 are free, so are military members in uniform. Open all year round.
