ROCKVILLE, Conn. - A University of Connecticut student goes before a judge this week, accused of committing an act of terrorism by posting threatening Internet messages after the stabbing death of football player Jasper Howard.

Christopher Mutchler, an 18-year-old freshman from Wethersfield, faces charges of hindering prosecution, committing an act of terrorism and several misdemeanors. He is due in court on Wednesday.

The messages were found Oct. 20, posted on another student's blog page about the stabbing and a Facebook wall set up for mourners to leave condolence messages.

A Bloomfield man, 21-year-old John Lomax III, was charged with murdering Howard on Oct. 18. He is being held on a $2 million bond as is due back in court on Dec. 17.
