East Haven Academy, a third through eighth grade school in East Haven, will be closed the rest of the week after a third of its student body and five teachers became will with flu-like symptoms, said Marilyn M. Vitale, the chairwoman of the board of education.
The district's other schools will remain open, she said. There were small numbers of students sick at the high school and middle school, she said.
There are about 240 students enrolled at the school and 75 to 80 didn't attend Wednesday because they were sick, Vitale said.
