Police have charged a 76-year-old Wethersfield woman with doctor-shopping to obtain narcotics and other controlled drugs.
Police charged Anita Appleby with 13 counts of illegal possession of narcotics and 13 counts of obtaining a narcotic by fraud.
Police said they got a complaint from a local pharmacy about Appleby. An investigation determined that she'd obtained 55 prescriptions from 33 different doctors during a 12-month period, police said. Thirteen of those offenses occurred in Glastonbury, Sgt. Joel White said.
Appleby was obtaining prescriptions for drugs such as percocet, endocet, hydrocodone and Clonazepam. She was released without having to post bail and is due in court Nov. 18 in Manchester.
