Health - Anticholinergic Drugs, Motion Sickness, Mapping Illness in the Body
April 18, 2008, 8:09 AM EDT

A new study suggests that a popular class of drugs may cause *memory* problems in some seniors.

Doctors at Maryland's Uniformed Services University say it's drugs in the anticholinergic category.

Those include medicines for stomach cramps, ulcers, motion sickness, and urinary problems.

Doctors say they block a neurotransmitter responsible for sending messages from motor nerves to muscles.

Doctors found people on the drugs lost brain function one-and-a-half times faster than others.

A global positioning system is great to find directions while driving.

But now GPS is being used to locate cancerous tumors.

It's considered the most advanced form of "image guided radiation therapy" in the world.

Scientists hope this medical technology will evolve quickly and be used to target different kinds of cancer --- like lung and breast cancer.
