Puberty, Exercise, Pro-biotics. Coffee Smell

June 17, 2008, 8:23 AM EDT

Your diet while pregnant could have a big impact on how your child develops. A new study from New Zealand found a high-fat diet...

During pregnancy and breast-feeding... May bring on puberty faster.

Early puberty in girls is often a sign of depression and insulin resistance... As well as obesity and breast cancer later in life.

Doctors tested the theory on rats and say those who ate the high-fat diets had alterations in their sex hormones.

That could play a role in early puberty. We all know working out can wear you out --

But now a new study shows it can actually help you sleep better too.

Researchers divided a group of people with chronic insomnia into four groups -- moderate aerobic, heavy aerobic, moderate strength and a control group.

The study shows those who did moderate aerobic activities were able to sleep better.

Those participants also showed a seven percent decrease in anxiety.

We have been told for years to stay away from bacteria so we do not get sick or an infection. We are learning there is one type of bacteria, which can do a whole lot of good... And may be the secret to burning extra fat. Doctors say good bacteria found in yogurt... Miso soup and sauerkraut.

What most call probiotics, not only help the digestive system work properly.

They can alter your metabolism.

A new study shows it can change how much fat is available for the body to absorb by influencing stomach acids during digestion.

Apparently just smelling coffee can help relieve stress.

That's according to researchers in South Korea. They claim when rats inhaled the aroma of roasted coffee beans,

A number of genes were activated, including some that produce proteins with healthful antioxidant activity.

They also said the aroma of the coffee beans helped ease the stress of the sleep-deprived rodents.
