Suspect Arrested After Police Chase

Branford Police arrested a suspect after he lead them on an overnight chase and smashed into a cruiser.
At 1:11 a.m., police attempted to stop a motor vehicle for not registering the car in Branford near East Main St. when suddenly, the vehicle took off. Police chased the vehicle through Branford and into New Haven. When the suspect got onto State Street, police boxed in the suspect. He tried to escape and smashed into a police cruiser.
Police arrested 31-year-old Leonard Anderson from Branford. Anderson was charged with Criminal Attempt to Assault a Police officer; Possession of Narcotics; Interfering with a Police Officer; Reckless Operation; Engaging Officer in Pursuit; Operating Under Suspension; Operating a Un-registered Vehicle; Operating without Insurance. Police said Anderson was throwing cocaine and Marijuana onto the highway. He is currently being held on a $75,000.00 bond and will be arraigned today in superior court.
