HARWINTON, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut state police have seized
more than 300 chickens at a Harwinton property and are
investigating whether they were used or bred for cockfighting.
Police said detectives and state agriculture personnel searched the property after getting a tip Thursday evening about a possible "safety situation" involving a large number of birds being kept there.
Police said the investigators found evidence of possible animal cruelty and state gaming violations. They discovered multiple crates and cages housing hens and roosters.
