HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut will use federal stimulus
money to help some domestic violence shelters across the state stay
open around-the-clock and preserve five state prosecutor positions.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell says the state has notified the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence that $1 million of the federal money will be used to expand hours at CCADV member shelters across the state.
The $1 million covers the equivalent of 10 full-time staffers at five locations, to be chosen by CCADV.
The state has also received $545,000 to preserve five domestic violence prosecutor positions in the state. Two are located in the Hartford judicial district. The others are located in the Ansonia/Milford district, Stamford and Windham districts.
