EAST HARTFORD -
East Hartford Detectives spent all evening Tuesday at 269 Main Street, searching for clues which they hope will help them find a killer.
Police were called to the apartment complex at about 3:30 in the afternoon on a report of gunshots.
A resident told dispatchers that she heard arguing and then gunfire from a next door apartment.
When officers arrived, police say they found a 35 year old man laying in the kitchen with gunshot wounds.
Doctors pronounced him dead a short time later at Hartford Hospital.
Police wouldn't initially identify the victim, or say whether they had a good idea who the shooter is, or whether the shooter and victim knew each other.
"It's a dispute, it's unclear exactly if it was a domestic or not, the call came in indicating to us that it was some type of dispute, they heard voices coming from the apartment that were very loud, and then subsequently hearing popping sounds which the caller indicated might have been gunshots," Officer Hugo Benettieri said.
Cops urge anyone with any information in this case to give them a call.
