Firefighters were still on the scene of a fire on Sherman Avenue in Meriden that started Sunday night.
The two-alarm fire broke out in a 3 story building at 124 Sherman Ave. around 8:45pm.
The fire was under control by 10:30 p.m.
One person was rescued from a second floor apartment and was taken to an area hospital. There is no word on their condition.
No firefighters or other residents were injured. The Red Cross is assisting with emergency clothing, shelter and financial assistance for 15 people in six different families living there.
Investigators are still looking into a possible cause.
