EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Following through on plans announced in March, Pratt & Whitney is cutting 200 salaried jobs as part of its restructuring.

The East Hartford-based company says the job cuts, represent less than 1 percent of its work force of 37,000. The cuts are because of declines in engine orders and maintenance and repair in the d airline industry.

The job cuts take effect Wednesday and include about 170 Connecticut workers. They're part of a restructuring plan announced by parent United Technologies Corp. in March.

UTC says it plans to cut 11,600 jobs, or 5 percent of its global work force.
