Torrington firefighters fought a 3 alarm fire at a commercial building at 644 Main St. The fire began at 9:26pm and was under control in 30 minutes. No injuries have been reported and no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. One firefighter suffered a minor injury. Fire officials said upon arrival smoke was coming from the building so they called for a third alarm. Upon arrival, they had to force their way in through a garage door in the building and found a car inside to be on fire. The building houses the businesses Northwest Cycle, Smokers Club, Sounds By Pestritto, D And J Affordable Automotive. The car was not in the area of the automotive business rather he says it appears to possibly have been just being stored in the building. He says their was minimal fire damage to the building but there is heavy smoke damage. He believes the businesses will probably be closed Monday. The fire marshal's office is investigating.
