State Police and emergency crews responded to an accident on I84 Eastbound in Southingtonnear exit 30, Friday afternoon.
State Police in Hartford confirm the accident involves a transport vehicle.
State Police Spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said traffic eastbound on the highway was shut down in that area which is just east of the I691 interchange.
A Life Star helicopter was called to the scene.
State Department of Transportation confirmed the accident involved a Department of Corrections vehicle.
