PLAINFIELD -
A fire early Wednesday morning that left a popular restaurant gutted was intentionally set, according to the Plainfield Fire Marshal.
At 3:30 a.m. a passing truck driver spotted flames and smoke shooting out of O'Connor's Steak and Seafood on Norwich Road. The fire drew crews from four area departments.
The Fire Marshal says the fire was intentionally set in several locations around the dining area of the restaurant. The case has officially been turned over to the Plainfield Police Department.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the restaurant but smoke and water damaged a liquor store, fitness center, and a salon, all of which are connected as part of the same strip mall at 788 Norwich Road. None of the businesses were open at the time of the fire.
