Remembering Our Friend Alice
Alice Morrin worked on our Assignment Desk for 3 years. She would talk to people all over to set up stories for the Fox 61 News crews to cover. She talked to so many people over that time and we wanted to give people who may have been touched by her a place to share a memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Morrin Education Fund, c/o Rockville Bank, 1645 Ellington Rd, South Windsor, CT 06074, to help her 2 daughters.
Tickets are $10. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9. Kids under 21 are welcome, but need to be accompanied by a parent.
Alice Morrin was an employee of WTIC Fox 61. She was killed in an incident of domestic violence June 28. Her two daughters, ages 10 and 14, were home at the time. The Morrin Education Fund was set up through Rockville Bank to help pay for their future educations.
The benefit show features three local bands Bronze Radio Return, Columbia Fields, and Forward Motion. The bands feature a blend of bluesy funk with a hearty dose of danceability. It'll be a good time for a good cause! Bronze Radio Return and Columbia Fields have also been featured on the Fox 61 Morning Show, were winners of the Advocate's Grand Band Slam, and also get local airplay at 96.5 WTIC-FM.

Here are some of our memories of Alice
This is a story I wanted everyone to see...Bikers Help Out. Its from just last month and Alice advocated the cause and felt strongly that I do the story. We collaborated on many stories we were proud of but the story of the "Renegade Pigs" (crazy name, good bunch) may have been our best. Quite simply, Alice saw this as a great opportunity to help people and tell a great story at the same time. It worked, we received so much great response about this piece which, as you'll see, combined a little horsepower with a lot of heart. I think this story captures the spirit of how Alice used her position and our medium to help others.

"Alice Morrin was our coworker, but she was much more than that. She was a friend to all of us. It sounds like a cliche, and in this business, we've heard them hundreds of times. She did have an smile that lit up the room. I looked forward to Mondays because that's when she worked.. She was warm and caring, and always meant it when she asked how you were doing. Her job was to set up stories for the news crews, and she was often able, with charm and persistence, to get information no one would have been able to otherwise.
She took great pride in her coworkers successes and helped them on the bad days. We wish, more than anything that she was here now to help us.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her beloved daughters and her parents, brothers and sisters."

I was really proud of volunteers and all the people of Vernon for this great event on Wed July 29.

Last summer our daughter went missing and Alice was the first among media to respond. She covered our story extensively and called/emailed me daily to see how we were holding up. Our daughter was found safe. I am eternally grateful. Our deepest sympathy to her daughters.
