Remembering Our Friend Alice
Alice Morrin worked on our Assignment Desk for 3 years. She would talk to people all over to set up stories for the Fox 61 News crews to cover. She talked to so many people over that time and we wanted to give people who may have been touched by her a place to share a memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Morrin Education Fund, c/o Rockville Bank, 1645 Ellington Rd, South Windsor, CT 06074, to help her 2 daughters.
"I'm so glad to have had Alice touch my life, even though it was too short. I want her beautiful girls to know that their mother was one of the most kind and generous people here at FOX 61, and in fact anywhere. I will never forget her, as I'm sure no one else can or will either."
~Katrina Ensign
"Alice was one of the first people to ever talk to me when I first joined FOX61. She automatically made me feel welcomed and accepted, as I've seen her do for many newcomers here who feel out of place. Whenever she knew I felt worried, sad, discouraged or insecure, she would give me a pep talk and tell me things would get better, and I could do whatever I doubted that I could. She gave so much to others in her everyday life, constantly offering support, help, advice, and a positive attitude. This is not the way she was supposed to go. She did not deserve this, it is so unfair and it just breaks my heart."

" Alice was a dear friend and a very valued member of the Fox 61 family. She loved her job but it could not compare to her love for her children. My thoughts and prayers go out to her daughters and her whole family. I can't find the words to express how devastated I am. Alice will never be forgotten"
- Rocco Paolino
"Alice was a great person who could always put a smile on anyone's face. She will be missed"
-Jason Bush
"Words cannot express the sadness of losing someone like Alice. As stressful and demanding as her job on the assignment desk was she always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Alice took joy in seeing pictures of everyone's kids and loved to share stories about her daughters. She would always tell me "Irene you should have your own sitcom you make me laugh everyday!" Alice always served as my reminder that good and genuine people are still out there. She will be missed each and every day."

As an intern that arrived late in the summer last year, I only got to see Alice a handful of times before it finally came time to return to school. I didn't know her as well as any of her colleagues, I'm sure, but her presence and general warmth was memorable and invaluable in helping me find my place in the weeks that I was here. In my mind, she made my experience here unforgettable, and I will certainly miss her.

It was once said that "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." Alice will be a treasure to me and to many of us. Her light, smile and kindness will be a treasure that we will carry with us. She will truly be missed. My sympathy goes out to her daughters and family during this horrible time.
-Christina M. Bradley
Alice was an angel in an industry where angels fear to tread. She was a saint in a world where saints are few and far between. It is common that we exaggerate the virtues of the recently deceased, but there can be no false amplification in this case. Alice was just such a rare person whom everyone who knew her, loved. We could all do well to be a little more like she was, and the world - as well as our little newsroom - is an emptier place for her absence.
To all, especially women, in abusive relationships, please don't wait to make that call for help, to police, to anyone. Help is available. The hot line to Interval House in Hartford is (888) 774-2900, even if you just need someone to talk to. Counselors are available 'round the clock. If this message saves a life, Alice's death, while forever senseless and tragic, will not have been completely in vain.
God bless you, Alice; your afterglow will always radiate with us, and you will forever be missed.
-Jeff Valin
I first heard of this tragedy this morning while watching the morning show. Knowing and working with Alice and also being a parent myself I am deeply saddened by this news. I do not, or will ever understand how these things happen. I feel so bad for the kids, now they have to try to finish growing up without parents, and that's plain just not right! I knew Alice very well and she was a real pleasure to work with. She was always very upbeat, kind and compassionate to everyone she came in contact with, either on the phone or in person. Alice would always answer the phone and say "Hey Dave, How are you today?, What's going on?" and at the end of the conversation she would always say "You got it". She was a true friend to me as we talked about many personal things together. I will deeply miss her. I hope and pray that her 2 daughters can somehow find peace in there lives and grow up to be just like their mom.

I was really proud of volunteers and all the people of Vernon for this great event on Wed July 29.

Last summer our daughter went missing and Alice was the first among media to respond. She covered our story extensively and called/emailed me daily to see how we were holding up. Our daughter was found safe. I am eternally grateful. Our deepest sympathy to her daughters.
