Northeast Utilities activated it's emergency storm center after thunderstorms rolled through the state Tuesday afternoon.
NU spokesman Mitch Gross said, there were 26,000 people without power as of 3:15 pm.
Gross said a transmission line leading to a substation in Willimantic was damaged in the storm. Significant damage occurred in West Hartford as well.
As of 9pm, there were 2,879 Connecticut Light and Power customers without power.
