WOLCOTT -
Tyrell Middle School in Wolcott has closed for the rest of the week after four students tested positive for the H1N1 Swine Flu.
The school superintendent says the students tested positive after an 8th grade class trip last week to Washington, D.C. That trip was cut short when 26 of 209 students on the trip got sick. Two faculty members also reported flu-like symptoms.
Four of those students have tested positive for H1N1, and at least seventeen others have been diagnosed with seasonal flu. The number of Swine Flu cases could go up as more test results come in.
Tyrell will remain closed through the weekend as crews disinfect the building. All classes and after school activities at Tyrell will be cancelled Thursday and Friday. School is scheduled to resume Monday, June 8th. Students suffering from flu-like symptoms are encouraged to stay home from school.
