Award-winning journalist Amanda Raus is an anchor for the FOX 61 News at 5 and 11 p.m.

As a Connecticut native, Amanda is thrilled to have the opportunity to share the stories that matter to the people in her home state. She loves to cover everything from breaking news to the stories that bring a smile to your face.

Prior to FOX61, Amanda spent eight years at WVIT, the NBC affiliate in West Hartford, where she was a general assignment reporter and a weekend anchor. She covered many major stories, spending nearly 14 hours on-air during the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and braving the elements during Superstorm Sandy, Tropical Storm Irene and the blizzard of 2013. She was nominated for an Emmy award and won a Connecticut Associated Press Award for her coverage of the Joshua Komisarjevsky trial.

Before heading to WVIT, Amanda worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor at WSHM in Springfield, MA. She began her career as a freelance reporter and associate producer at News 12 Connecticut.

Amanda earned a Master of Business Administration from Quinnipiac University in Hamden and earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She grew up in Monroe and is a graduate of Masuk High School.

When she isn’t reporting Connecticut’s top stories, Amanda loves exploring all that our state has to offer. She loves visiting the shoreline during the summer and taking in all the gorgeous foliage in the fall.
