Jake Garcia joined FOX61 in February of 2023 as a reporter. He comes to Connecticut from KIVI-TV in Boise, Idaho where he served as Weekend Anchor and Reporter.

Jake covered many notable stories while in Idaho including the murder of four University of Idaho students which gained national attention. He also covered the pre-trial court proceedings of Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow.

In his time reporting he also covered the Idaho Legislature, Idaho Supreme Court and public corruption including investigations into several police departments and the arrest and trial of a former Idaho lawmaker convicted of rape.

Before his time in Boise Jake anchored the morning and midday newscasts for KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, Texas for three years where his reporting focused on crime and court cases. While in Wichita Falls, he became a prominent leader in the local Hispanic community emceeing for the annual Hispanic Leadership Banquet and Dia De Los Muertos festival.

Before going to Wichita Falls, he worked at all three local stations in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas in numerous positions including Editor, Producer, Reporter, and fill-in Anchor.

Jake is a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the National Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists.

When he’s not working Jake enjoys exploring the outdoors and finding great local food spots with friends.
