TORRINGTON — Melissa Etheridge premiered a new song Wednesday night at a concert recorded in Connecticut honoring the victims of the Orlando gay nightclub shooting.

The song, “Pulse,” was part of a concert Etheridge recorded for the series, “Infinity Hall Live,” which is shown on PBS stations.

The singer spoke about one of the victims, KJ Morris, who was originally from Torrington.

The lyrics include the lines, “Love will always win, underneath the skin. Everybody’s got a pulse.”

“I think musicians…I think our job is to heal, our job is to put all those emotions in something and send it out and give it a place to where we can all…just breathe…and understand that we’re all humans and we all have a pulse,” said Etheridge, who came out as a lesbian in the 1990’s.

The series premieres on July 8. Etheridge’s episode will be shown on CPTV on August 26 at 10 p.m.
