CANTON, Conn. — The summer season means occasionally getting outside of the yoga studio for instructor Melanie Sedlack.
Sedlack, who owns Fierce Movement Studio in Burlington is now making her way to the Farmington River and teaming up with Collinsville Canoe & Kayak. This summer, Sedlack is offering Stand Up Paddle Board yoga classes, SUP Yoga, from just off the boat launch at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak.
Sedlack, who began SUP Yoga instruction a decade ago, but is new to teaching classes in Collinsville said, “it’s a lot of fun and worst-case scenario is you fall in the water have a little fun and splash around and get out and try again.” She then added that joining forces with another local business was a plus; “this is a beautiful thing to do this time of year and connection our businesses as well as just being here in support of Collinsville Canoe & Kayak.”
Between “Warrior poses” and “Downward Dogs” Sedlack said “you’re really getting connected with your balance and you really need to focused on staying on the board – but you’re also getting connected to nature.” After trying out the Stand-Up Paddle Board class for the first time, Grace Annonson, from Burlington, who works at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak said, “it was an amazing experience - I’m not a yoga partaker but I still had a lot of fun and was still able to do it so I definelty recommend it to anyone to give it a try.”
