BRANFORD, Conn. — The State of Connecticut has launched a campaign that hopes to revitalize the tourism industry in the state. The “Say Yes to CT” campaign will provide $1.2 Million dollars to support and advertise local Connecticut attractions. With the summer tourism season upon us, the state hopes these dollars can help boost local businesses.

"People are feeling more comfortable being vaccinated and with restrictions being eased," said Chris Morris of Stony Creek Brewery.

It’s that kind of comfortability that is bringing people back out after being cooped up indoors for over a year. For places like Stoney Creek Brewery in Branford, the summer tourism months will be hugely important to boosting their finances. They are doing everything they can to attract customers.

"We have live music booked every Saturday and Sunday to maybe mid-fall," said Morris.

As a part of the #SayYesCT campaign, The Connecticut Office of Tourism will be featuring businesses across the state including hotels and inns, restaurants, and breweries as well as beaches, outdoor recreations, and events.

"The new campaign is a great reminder of that diversity and the growing optimism among travelers that we believe will put people back to work and translate into an industry-wide recovery for tourism beginning this summer,” said Governor Ned Lamont in a statement.

"We’re all looking forward to it and the rebound has already happened as far as we’re concerned," said John Lombardo.

Lombardo of the Saybrook Point Resort & Marina believes the economic help from the state will go a long way in competing for advertising space against their New England competition.

"If you’re getting a lot of exposure from other states, if you're average consumer, you’re going to go where the message is," said Lombardo.

Lombardo says the number one concern of businesses across the country is staffing. Everyone is battling with each other to hire to make sure they are ready for the summer rush.
