WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — When the crystal ball dropped to usher in 2023 in Times Square, membership inquiries went up about 25% at the BodyRoc FitLab in West Hartford.
BodyRoc owner Shaun Chambers is accustomed to seeing a bump in business each January, and never tires of it.
"Once New Years rolls around everybody wants to put the past behind them and move forward," said Chambers.
Chambers has owned BodyRoc FitLab for eight years, the past three years have been by far the most challenging as he and his staff were forced to navigate the constant hurdles posed by the pandemic. The BodyRoc location in Avon became a casualty of the Coronavirus and was forced to close. BodyRoc’s original location off of New Park Avenue in West Hartford has remained strong, according to Chambers.
“Thank God for our members and their loyalty,” he said.

For the New Year, the team at BodyRoc FitLab has geared up for new members joining their ranks and they are also offering advice to anyone looking to join a gym.
"Do some research and take the first step. When you find the right place give yourself the chance to be bad at first and give yourself time to grow," said Gil Pinheiro, a trainer at BodyRoc.
Longtime BodyRoc member Lily Pham said the time to act is just after the New Year, “my advice would be to just stop thinking about it and just do it. Workouts are great for your body, your mind, and it’s just an amazing thing to do.”
