WEST HARTFORD — Fire crews responded to the scene of a fire in the area of 26 Selldan Street in West Hartford at 11:23am Thursday morning.

One resident was transported to Hartford Hospital for smoke inhalation. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated and released on-scene.

The fire was the heaviest in the basement of the residence. Mutual aid was required for the deep-seated fire from both Hartford and New Britain Fire Departments.

West Hartford and Hartford police are also at the scene.

The fire was placed under control at 12:44pm and the residence is considered inhabitable.

The Red Cross and West Hartford Social Services are providing assistance to the residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the West Hartford Fire Marshal’s office.
