IMPD investigating deadly shooting on city's near northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a deadly shooting on the near northeast side. 

Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of North Sherman Drive, near Massachusetts Avenue and East 25th Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the person killed as 46-year-old Gene Boyd Jr.

Police do not have a suspect in custody at this time and are asking for the public’s help for information. 

Police told 13News at the scene that another person who was shot in the area is not believed to be connected to this incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
