Man identified as victim in Hartford deadly shooting

Police say the homicide happened in the area of Blue Hills Avenue.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Police responded to the area of 69 Blue Hills Avenue for reporters of gunfire damage inside the building. 

Officers saw evidence of gunfire in a stairwell. While checking the welfare of the residents of the building, police found a man inside one of the apartments with gunshot wounds. 

Police say they believe the homicide in connection with a report of shots fired in the area overnight, which after a lengthy search did not produce evidence of gunfire. 

The victim was identified as 25-year-old  Zayon Collier of Hartford. 

Police say the investigation remains active and open. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hartford Police Department Tip Line at 860-722-8477.
