CT COVID-19 Updates: Positivity rate at 1.79%; hospitalizations continue downward trend ahead of the weekend

HARTFORD, Conn —

Oct. 22

Latest COVID-19 Updates

Gov. Ned Lamont reported Friday that Connecticut administered 25,260 COVID-19 tests since Thursday.

453 tests came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 1.79% ahead of the weekend.

Hospitalizations declined by 13 since yesterday, according to Lamont. The state's total number of patients is 211.

On Thursday, the state reported that there have been 14 additional deaths since last week. As of yesterday, 2,387,601 people in Connecticut were recorded as being fully-vaccinated.

The governor said Friday that state employees' overall compliance with the COVID-19 vaccination/testing executive order remains high at 95%.

The overall vaccination rate is currently 80.8%. That is an increase from the most recent update on October 7, according to Lamont's office.

Among employees who have chosen not to comply:

  • 22 have been separated from their employment;
  • 29 have been placed on unpaid leave; and
  • 70 are in the process of being placed on unpaid leave due to their ongoing non-compliant status.

Latest COVID-19 Updates

Gov. Ned Lamont reported Thursday that Connecticut administered 24,611 COVID-19 tests since Wednesday.

410 tests came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 1.67% today.

Hospitalizations declined by 2 since yesterday, according to Lamont. The state's total number of patients is 224.

The governor also reported that there have been 14 additional deaths since last week. The state's death toll has reached 8,721.

As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, 2,387,601 people in Connecticut are fully-vaccinated.  2,580,367 first doses have been administered at this time.

Latest COVID-19 Updates

Gov. Ned Lamont reported Wednesday that Connecticut administered 20,427 COVID-19 tests since Tuesday.

384 tests came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 1.88% today.

Hospitalizations declined by 22 since yesterday, according to Lamont. The state's total number of patients is 226.

Latest COVID-19 Updates

Gov. Ned Lamont reported Tuesday that Connecticut administered 24,702 COVID-19 tests since Monday.

709 tests came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 2.87 % today.

Hospitalizations saw a slight uptick of 1 since yesterday, according to Lamont. The state's total number of patients is 248.

Latest COVID-19 Updates

Gov. Ned Lamont reported Monday that Connecticut administered 62,825  COVID-19 tests since over the weekend.

1,147  tests came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of 1.83 % today.

Hospitalizations are up by 15, according to Lamont. The state's total number of patients is 247.

Report: 89% of Conn. long-term care workers fully vaccinated

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Newly released data show 89% of the more than 61,000 long-term care workers in Connecticut required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 under Gov. Ned Lamont’s executive order were fully vaccinated as of Oct. 8. The state's Department of Public Health said Friday that 7% of those employees subject to the Democrat’s mandate are partially vaccinated. Nursing homes and other long-term care facilities across the state reported around 2,850 workers were unvaccinated because they had medical or religious exemptions or they were unvaccinated for other reasons. Meanwhile, the state health department said depending on final federal approval, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots could be ready to begin as soon as Oct. 22.
