BOSTON -- If election season is leaving a bad taste in your mouth, head to the South End of Boston, they have a remedy.
Alyssa Schoenfeld began taking guests on her "Bites of Boston" food tour five years ago and she continues to walk the walk through a neighborhood filled with an array of exotic restaurants.
"The South End is varied so you get a lot of different restaurants," Schoenfeld said. "We give you a taste, literally and figuratively, of the area."
From fried clams to the famed "Chunky Lola" cookie, stops at popular Boston landmarks like the Parish Café 2, The Morse Fish Company, the Flour Bakery, are all highlights of the walking tour which includes some of the city's history along the way.
"There are six restaurants we visit on the tour," Schoenfeld said. "We think food is best enjoyed when put into the context of your local surroundings."
Syd McKenna who was visiting Boston from Missoula, Montana said, "It was wonderful to taste all those different foods and the history is amazing."
The "Bites of Boston: Sweet and Savory Food Tour" lasts about 3 hours. It runs Wednesday through Sunday through November and then starts back up again in April.
