CT residents urged to lock cars, take keys after nearly 30 car thefts in 24 hours

27 cars in the state were stolen in one day. According to police, the thefts were mostly in the suburbs and 20 of the cars were stolen with keys left inside.

A growing number of car thefts in Connecticut have prompted officials to remind residents of important task, especially at night.

"LOCK YOUR CARS-TAKE YOUR KEYS," Hartford Police said on Twitter Tuesday.

The reminder comes after Police said there were 27 cars stolen in the state in the past 24 hours.

According to HPD, the thefts were mostly in the suburbs.

20 of the cars were stolen with keys left in the car.
