WILMINGTON--Swoosh. Splash. Vroom.

Those are the noises you hear at Island Jet Ski, which recently found a home at Lake Witingham in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

"When you come up here you’re going to feel like woah, where am I?" That's owner Joe Mahon's description of the advanced wave runners he rents out for tours. For about two hours you get to jet across the 12-mile long lake sitting upon machines that go upwards of 40 mph--faster than most Connecticut roads' speed limits!

"We do a two hour tour, we go all the way to the other end of the lake, walk up to a dam look around and then ride back," Mahon said of the tour. The dam he speaks of is about 100-120 feet tall and was built in the 1920s. When you reach the top, it provides a scenic overview looking out across the lake and treetops.

So you hit the top of the mountain, and the bottom of the lake all in one trip! And down is pretty far. In fact, it's as far as the trip up. "As we get further down the lake its 100 feet deep," Mahon said.

The tours are offered all summer long, and into part of the fall before it gets too cold.

Mahon said that the lake was sparingly used, so he thought it was the perfect location. "I thought if I could bring together some tours, have people come out and enjoy this beautiful spot, and just have an enjoyable time."

And it's been drawing adventure seekers. Tim Shannon, a guide for Island Jet Ski, said, "It’s a super unique experience.  What's really cool about it is to be able to enjoy driving a wave runner or jet ski on a lake and get to see different or unique features on this lake."

To book your next trip to Island Jet Ski, head to the tour's website by clicking here. Two-hour tours cost $229 per jet ski, and up to three people can fit on one jet ski.
