NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A beloved mascot representing New Britain's Little Poland neighborhood was stolen earlier this week.
The president of the Polonia Business Association said Stanley the Little Poland Dragon was in a hockey bag taken from a car this weekend.
The mascot has made appearances on FOX61 promoting different polish events the dragon would be at. It was their first of four costumes brought on a decade ago to promote the polish heritage in New Britain.
The costume, inspired by Polish folklore, has traveled across the state and even out of the country for different events.
The association has already raised enough money to replace Stanley but said the new costume will not be in yet to make some already scheduled appearances.
