HARTFORD -- Police say 35-year-old Ross Stone, of West Hartford, was shot and killed Thursday afternoon following a double shooting in the area of Garden Street and Pliny Street.

Police say their ShotSpotter technology notified them of several gunshots in the area just after 4:30 p.m., along with numerous 911 calls reporting two people had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found Stone in the area of 451 Garden Street. Police say he was shot in the head, and was unresponsive. Police found another victim, 25-year-old Elijah Adorno, a Hartford resident, one block away. He was also suffering from several gunshot wounds to the legs and stomach. Police say he managed to run down the block after being shot before eventually collapsing.

Both Stone and Adorno were rushed to St. Francis Hospital, police in tow. Stone later died just after 5 p.m. Adorno was admitted into surgery, and is currently listened in stable condition.

"Police located two victims. One individual was unresponsive on scene, and the other individual was suffering from two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. One of the individuals was struck in the head, he has ultimately been declared deceased," said Lt. Paul Cicero.

As 2018 comes to a close, this marks the Capitol City’s 21st homicide. Police have not released any suspects information, motives, or names.

Police say the investigation into the double shooting is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Hartford Police Major Crimes at 860-757-4179.
