STAMFORD — Two people were killed in an early morning crash in Stamford Monday.
Police said a Nissan was traveling south on Canal St. at a high rate of speed and just south of Henry St. the operator lost control. The vehicle struck the first pole, breaking it into several pieces, then continued until striking the second pole and coming to final rest. The second pole was also snapped in half.
The vehicle was being driven by Jerry Diaz, 18, of Stamford. The passenger that died on the scene was identified as Kymoni Pollock, 19, of Stamford. The passenger that died after being transported to Stamford Hospital was identified as NiShawn Tolliver, 18, of Stamford. Both Diaz, and another passenger identified as Amaiya Callahan, 19, of Stamford, were transported to Stamford Hospital in critical condition. The remaining two passengers, Erica Stephens, 19, and Alontia Moore, 20, both of Stamford, were transported to Stamford Hospital in serious condition.
