BRISTOL — A 45-year-old city woman was charged with burglary and assault after breaking into a home on Davis Drive Saturday night, police said.

Around 11:15 p.m. officers responded to 197 Davis Drive on the report of a disturbance. When police arrived they discovered that Candace J. Morehouse, of 37 Davis Drive, had broken into the home and assaulted a 65-year-old resident.

Police said the victim sustained minor injuries. Morehouse also damaged some property inside the home, police said.

Morehouse was charged with second-degree burglary, assault on a victim 60 or older, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief, police said. She is being held on a $20,000 bond and is due in Bristol Superior Court Monday.

Police said Morehouse’s arrest is unrelated to a string of residential burglaries that occurred in the city last week. In those cases, the burglar cut or removed screens on windows and entered occupied homes overnight on Dorothy, Vincent and Barbara roads.
