SIMSBURY -- A family who lives on Sunset Hill Road in Simsbury is upset and hoping that the community will help identify the people who vandalized their Christmas yard display.

On Saturday morning shortly after midnight, Ken Sengstacken and Liz Colopy's home surveillance picked up several people entering their yard. You then see them kicking, trampling ripping up and further destroying her family's Christmas lights and decorations.

The family woke up that morning to the heavy damage, and wants to find the people responsible.

"We are hopeful that someone may recognize these people so we can all get back to enjoying the holidays and not worrying about what could happen next," Colopy told FOX 61 in an email.

The video also shows the vandals attempting to take down a street sign. A neighbor's property was also vandalized.

Sengstacken and Colopy, who are known locally for their exquisite decorations, are offering $500 for information leading to the capture of the vandals. If you have information please call Simsbury Police.

But, they won't let this ruin their holiday.

"My husband spent most of Saturday making repairs and replacing beyond repairable display figures with other display figures. We were determined and successful in lighting our display Saturday night right on schedule," Colopy told FOX 61.
