DERBY –Attorneys where a 16-year-old Derby girl stabbed to death at her high school are set to argue in court that claims against the city in a wrongful death lawsuit should be dismissed.

Arguments are scheduled Monday at Derby Superior Court in the case involving Maren Sanchez. The teen was killed by fellow student Christopher Plaskon at Jonathan Law High School in Milford on the day of her junior prom in 2014.

Sanchez’s mother accuses school officials of failing to take appropriate actions after Sanchez told them she worried Plaskon might harm himself or others several months before her death. Milford’s lawyers deny the allegations.

Plaskon is serving a 25-year prison sentence. Authorities suggested he was upset Sanchez rejected his prom invitation, but his lawyer denies that.
