HARTFORD-High life expectancy and more educated folks are a couple reasons Connecticut is ranked as the best state according to a new report from Measure of America.
Its mission is to highlight how American people and the American economy are doing by measuring from what they call the American Human Index. ”
The American HD Index is calculated by taking the simple average of the health, education and income indices, the report states. The rankings include the District of Columbia.
Connecticut performed well in all those areas.
The state was at the top of the charts for life expectancy which sits at nearly 81 years.
The state also has a lot of educated folks with 35.5 percent earning at least a bachelor’s degree, the national average is 28.2 percent and 15.3 percent of the state also has a graduate degree.
The report also took into other factors like crime rates, poverty and voter participation. Click here for the full report.
