HARTFORD–Cox Communications customers in Connecticut reported outages in service for several hours Monday afternoon and evening, but before 11 p.m. service was mostly restored.
The outage impacted a majority of the Northeast.
Cox’s customer care Twitter account, @CoxHelp, was responding to questions about outages across Connecticut and Rhode Island all afternoon. It appears WiFi, cable and phone services were all affected.
The tweets indicated that Cox was aware that there was an outage in sections of the Northeast and that the company was working to restore service, but no official statement was ever put on the company’s website or social media pages.
Around 6:30 p.m. the @CoxHelp account said that crews were working to “splice” fibers and fix the issue but that it would be several more hours; it took until about 11 to fix.
