MANCHESTER — Fire crews battled a blaze in a home that recently had been the scene of a stand off.

Firefighters were called to a home at 6 Elro Street just before 10 p.m. on Saturday and found ‘heavy fire’ on the first and second floors, and in the attic. The main body of the fire was brought under control fairly quickly, but fire officials say the fire in the attic was tougher to battle. They gained access to the attic and through the roof and brought the fire under control about 10:30 p.m.

The Manchester Fire Department says all the occupants had gotten out safely. The home is uninhabitable and at least 4 people were displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said the Elro Street residence was the scene of a police stand-off on January 9th, when they found one person hiding in the attic and took him into custody.
