NEW HAVEN — Three firefighters were injured while fighting a restaurant fire in New Haven early Wednesday morning.
According to officials, the fire broke out around 5:45 a.m. at the KUMO Hibachi Steakhouse on Elm Street.
Due to the heat, the department had to rotate firefighters every 15 minutes, but two of them suffered from heat exhaustion. They are expected to be okay.
Another firefighter was injured after being lacerated with broken glass. They were sent to the hospital for evaluation.
There were apartments above the restaurant but officials say the fire did not spread to the apartments.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
