HARTFORD — A New Britain man went from being a correction officer to a suspected serial rapist after his DNA was found at the scene of alleged rapes in Hartford and New Britain, police said.

Detectives in the two cities have four alleged victims, they said, but there may be more.

“We believe there may be other victims out there,” Hartford Deputy Chief Brian Foley said Wednesday. “And, we would ask them to come forward and contact us.”

Kelvin Grisales, 30, of Whitman Street, has been charged with two sexual assaults in Hartford and is suspected of two more in New Britain, according to the warrant for his latest arrest. In both Hartford cases, he drove a late-model, dark SUV and sexually assaulted prostitutes, using violence or threatening it, police said.

His most recent arrest happened Wednesday in Superior Court. He was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, impersonating a police officer, second-degree threatening and patronizing a prostitute in a motor vehicle for an incident police say happened in March 2012.

It was the second set of sex charges for Grisales; he was charged last month with raping a woman at gunpoint on Huyshope Avenue.
