NEW HAVEN--The Yale employee, who lost his job last month after smashing a stained glass window depicting slavery, is hoping to get his job back.

Corey Menafee, 38, sporting a new suit and a new shirt and tie, hopes Yale will reconsider his resignation.

After shattering the window at John Calhoun College, which depicted of two slaves picking cotton, Menafee says Yale gave him a choice: quit or be fired.

Menafee, a father of two, says he loved his job as a dining hall cleaner and that Yale was a great employer.

That's why he wants his job back, with this promise: "On my name, Corey Menafee, you will never have any type of incident like that from me again," Menafee said.

FOX 61 reached out to Yale for comment on Menafee's hopes to get his job back.  The university states there is nothing to report.

However, Yale has stated previously that it is not seeking restitution against Menafee, and that it has asked prosecutors to drop criminal mischief and reckless endangerment charges against him.
